Job Description

We are looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Event Manager.This is a minimum of a two year contract working within our events team.The successful candidate will be based at our Head Office in Bedfordshire and will work on a wide variety of events with our clients both at our venue in Bedfordshire and on a series of events being held at various locations across Europe.

Background

The Concept Centre at Millbrook is an unusual venue situated halfway between Milton Keynes and Bedford, just minutes from the M1 Junction 13.Set within a 700 acre site with over 30 miles of specialist driving tracks, the sheer scale of the operation requires a dedicated events department to manage our client events.

Millbrook Events was formed in May 1997 as the dedicated business unit handling all event related activity on site.The events range from conferences, product launches, exhibitions, activity days, ride and drive promotions for motor manufacturers to themed evening functions.This eclectic mix of events is what makes this venue so interesting to those responsible for managing them.

As a result of a significant growth in business, coupled with a diversification of event type and a series of events to be held within Europe, Millbrook Events are seeking to expand their event management team.

The Candidate

A very special type of individual will be required to fill the position of Event Manager.He or she will need to be extremely flexible in their approach to the rôle as the nature of the job often demands long and unsociable hours, including some weekend work both at our venue in Bedfordshire and throughout Europe.A Jack of All Trades mentality will ensure our high service delivery levels and inbuilt ethos of ‘we can solve anything’ is sustained.

The Event Manager would report to the Events Operations Manager and the ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:

-with a relevant background in managing events, you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, organisational flair and effective time management skills

-good interpersonal skills are essential as is the ability to multi-task

-candidates must have a common sense approach to problem solving together with a high level of administration skills, meticulous attention to detail and a high regard for customer service

-be passionate and enthusiastic with a proactive and assertive attitude coupled with the ability to be a team player

-the ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure is a must

-be able to provide committed and efficient support to your client and your team

-computer literate with accurate typing and an eye for detail

-be self-motivated, flexible and energetic in your approach

-be honest, punctual and creative

-experience in managing events overseas is preferred but not essential

 

The Role

The key accountabilities and responsibilities of this position include:

-on site at our venue, you will manage all venue responsibilities to ensure the success of our client events from the initial stages through to the conclusion of the event

-you will be responsible for the co-ordination and management of a number of European events and, therefore, travel would be an integral part of this role

-at the European events, you will work on-site during the build up, open period and breakdown of all shows

-working with our clients to develop all relevant aspects of the event logistics

-respond to all client queries and supply technical and local information as required

-supplier negotiations followed up by written confirmations and the raising of purchase requests

-it is your responsibility to brief and manage all staff and suppliers working on the event

-management of adherence by clients, staff and suppliers to specified conditions and Health and Safety practices

-invoicing of all ancillary items within agreed deadlines

-establish and manage the event files completing all relevant filing

-providing required data to the Account Manager following each European event

-liaison with internal departments as necessary to ensure all relevant parties are notified of anything that affects them

General Sales Activity

You will also be required to provide support to the Business Development team as necessary.Sourcing information in support of quotations, updating the database and attending event related client meetings.

Salary: GBP 24,000.00 to GBP 24,000.00 per year
