Entertain Your Clients the Family Way!

The long hours work culture in Britain means that many parents get to spend very little time with their children. Mother’s Day (18 March 2007) and Father’s Day (17 June 2007) are the perfect opportunities to hold a corporate event with a difference and offer your clients and their children a real treat.

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, there are fun activities you can do that won’t bust your budget. We suggest using the Friday afternoon before Mothering Sunday as the perfect time for a family get together, either in the office (if you have suitable premises) or offsite. Late afternoon (from 3pm onwards) is a good time as it won’t eat into too much of the working day and will accommodate school aged children.

Activities could include:

A tea party including cookie decorating: clients bring in their children for a late afternoon tea in which part of the fun is getting the kids to decorate their own cookies. We can theme any room – why not consider an Alice in Wonderland Mad Hatter’s Tea Party? A range of entertainers will add fun to the event.

Soft play: transform a boardroom into a soft play area with ball pools and bouncy castle, fun for all ages, adults and children alike.

Arts & crafts: We can set up a range of different arts and crafts work stations allowing children to create wonderful projects. You could even ask the children to submit their creations into a competition, the best of which can be used as the company Christmas card or lobby artwork.

We can also set-up a mobile spa, where mothers and daughters can relax and be pampered.

As Father’s Day is further away and occurs at a warmer time of year, you might want to consider putting on a bigger outdoor event with a bunch of activities that will get dads just as excited as their kids.

Consider a games day with:

Inflatable fun runs: an enormous inflatable obstacle course – great for team competitions.

It’s a knock out or a mini sports day with old favourites like the egg and spoon race and new fun games that will have adults and kids laughing.

A range of Sega games like driving, pin ball, motorbikes and ski machines.

A giant 8 lane Scalextric set for some competitive all age racing.

Football freestylers and football skills workshop: have a professional enthral parents and kids with their ball skill tricks, or get everyone involved in some football training.

Fun fair: have an array of fun fair rides, quad bikes, crazy golf or a land train to create a real carnival atmosphere.

Champagne Tasting for Your Events

Champagne par Excellence organises Champagne tasting events for the general public or for businesses interested in knowing a little bit more about Champagne, its origins, making, assemblages, and most importantly how to enjoy it at its best!!!

Cécile Bergart, MD of Champagne par Excellence, has always believed in trying new and even unheard-of labels, and she thus tries to share her passion for quality by educating and challenging preconceptions about Champagne.

She had the immense privilege of being privately taught by Master Sommelier, Xavier Rousset, himself. He is Head Sommelier at Le Manoir Aux Quat’ Saisons in Oxford. She was trained by Mr Dominique Pierrel himself, Champagne Producer from Epernay, to organise informal Champagne tastings and tutorials about Champagne in general and about Pierrel’s range in particular.

The Champagnes from Pierrel are the perfect examples of her company ethos: providing exclusive, individual, award-winning and competitively priced Champagnes.

She looks forward to discussing your event requirements and show you how Champagne par Excellence can help make your occasions stand out.

Sky saves Bafta reception

Sky Broadcasting came to the rescue last month after the inaugural Bafta Nominees Reception planned for the Natural History Museum (NHM) looked doomed.

A crisis arose when headline investor sponsor Burberry pulled out, fearing there might be demonstrations against the closure of its factory in Wales.

The decision to cancel the reception for 800 guests in the museum’s Central Hall was taken by Burberry on 3 February, just a week before the planned event.

Sky confirmed it would take over the sponsorship and agency Added Dimension, together with the museum’s in-house event team, was given five days to produce a completely new event that went ahead on 10 February.

The NHM’s head of events and catering, Rupert Ellwood, said: “The whole concept for the event changed and we were able to pull together all our accredited suppliers to redesign it to Sky’s specification.

Events Industry Salary Survey

“This year’s Event salary survey shows the sector is experiencing continued growth, with budgets and wages increasing. However, staff retention remains a big issue with employees still dissatisfied and on the lookout for better opportunities. As always, the headline figures disguise a world of differences as the survey covers staff from executive up to senior level and across a range of disciplines within events. And of course, each job has its own demands and rewards.”
