Event Support Assistant – Race for Life

Company: National Events Executive – Race for Life

Responsible For:

Assisting the National Events Executive with the operational set up and safe delivery of up to 11 Race for Life events, between May and July.Hours each week will be determined by the event dates themselves.

Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life, supported by Tesco, is a national series of women-only 5km walks or runs.In 2006, 750,000 women took part across the UK and raised over £30 million for Cancer Research UK.Race for Life will be making 2007 its biggest year yet by inviting around 800,000 women to participate in one of 290 races across the UK between May and July. Key Responsibilities:

- To work closely with the National Events Executive on Race For Life, acting as a key staff member, ensuring the success and safety of the events.

- To assist in the operational delivery of Race for Life on the day.

- To assist with co-ordinating and setting up of the events on a voluntary basis.

- Management of voluntary staff as briefed by the National Events Executive

- Responsible for key areas of the event, under direction from the National Events - Executive, such as Start/Finish, Administration Marquees, Site set up, Site clear down, Course set up and marshal briefing, Car parking.

- To assist with the Health & Safety management for each event.

- Ambassador for Cancer Research UK.

Knowledge

- Event organisation, to include health & safety and risk assessment

- Knowledge of administrative/IT systems

Experience

- Experience of delivering/assisting at outdoor events.

- Experience of developing and managing relationships.

Skills and Competencies

- Ability to multi task and manage workload, including Race for Life and University work.

- Ability to communicate at all levels.

- Ability to work on a ‘hands on’ level.

- Team worker.

- Willingness to learn from the experience and to support the aims of Cancer Research UK

Additional: Full Driving Licence; Comfortable with physically challenging activity;

Willing to work unsociable hours, travel and stay away from home as required.

Please note: The hours worked each week will be determined by the Race area to which the Event Support Assistant is assigned.Each Event Support Assistant will work alongside a designated National Events Executive, in the delivery of the Race for Life events in a specific region.

Events Executive

A large investment bank requires an Events Executive on a 4 month contract basis to work within their corporate department on their conferences and corporate hospitality events. You will co-ordinating various sporting events including Wimbledon and Ascot to entertain the banks corporate clients. This role would ideally suit candidates with a corporate or agency background, and you must be available to start immediately.

Events Manager – Permanent

Description:

This professional services corporate company is seeking an Events Manager with previous professional services events experience. This position will be responsible for a range of UK client events and potentially pan European events including small dinner parties, seminars, conferences and social events. The successful individual must be self confident with a mature attitude to work, the understanding and practical experience of how to run events, awareness of cost constraints, ability to relate to people at all levels, able to work with minimal supervision and have excellent presentation skills.

International Events Manager – London

One of London’s most versatile venues with a long and successful track record of running public exhibitions and events is seeking an Internal Events Manager. You will be responsible for developing a portfolio of new and existing events and will be working predominantly on the sales and commercial side of the business. You will be comfortable producing, managing and achieving budgets and will have experience of running exhibitions and events. The role has an element of marketing and operations, although is predominantly sales focused. Ideally you will be working or have previously worked for an organising company in the role of Senior Exec, Assistant Exhibition Manager or Exhibition Manager. Events Organiser - Wimbledon SW London

Accountabilities:

To project manage and work on all areas to deliver events in a professional, timely and cost effective manner.

To work on all aspects of the event, from research stages to on-site delivery and through to comprehensive post-event reporting

Input to budget management as appropriate

Maintain good relationships with suppliers and ensure competitive rates are negotiated at all times on all services provided

To adhere to administration procedures and systems to support effective completion and delivery on all events projects

To attend and report at weekly team meetings and event team meetings

Person Specification:

- Approx 2-3 years event organising experience

- Strong interpersonal skills

- Strong communications skills at all levels

- Strong organisational capability

- Ability to articulate ideas
