Marketing & PR - Conference and events, THE CHAPEL BAR
Location: Islington, London
Salary: depending on skills and experience + bonuses
The successful candidate will be responsible for handling all events enquiries, ranging from birthdays and weddings to corporate and charity events. The successful candidate will be responsible for all elements of event coordinating and venue hire, from liaising with the kitchen, to booking bands, hiring equipment, and delivering bespoke, polished events on the day. They must also be able to optimise income generated from the events, and have a good grasp of the financial and administrative aspect of events planning.
The person will need to have excellent organisational skills, be a confident user in all computer programmes with design skills being a bonus. The person must be well spoken with an excellent telephone manner and be well presented. The Chapel Bar has an excellent reputation for the level of service at all of its private events and parties, and the successful candidate must be happy to work with this ethos in mind.
The person will also be responsible for handling the Directors diary and taking care of his administrative duties.
It is key that the successful candidate is happy to be flexible in terms of working hours and duties. The ability to multi-task and cope well under pressure is also a must, and a positive, energetic approach will benefit the successful candidate in this role.

The Events and Visits team at the Department of Health is looking for an enthusiastic Senior Events and Visits Officer. You will be responsible for managing a small team and delivering a series of Ministerial visits and key departmental events and exhibitions.
Working on a daily basis with Ministers’ private offices, communication colleagues and the NHS, you will ensure your work links to the communications priorities of the NHS Communications team. You will also provide strategic advice to colleagues across the department and manage external agencies to deliver a range of project-based activities.
Of graduate calibre, you will have a strong background in managing events, exhibitions and liaising with suppliers. You will have excellent management, organisation and relationship building skills, be resilient under pressure and relish working in a fast-paced environment. This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in the press office of the largest UK-wide teachers’ union.
The post is a temporary one covering for maternity leave. It is based at the Union’s London office in King Street, Covent Garden. The successful applicant will work as part of a small team dedicated to ensuring the voice of teachers is heard in national, local and specialist Education media.
Working closely with the Union’s General Secretary, the successful applicant will be part of a team promoting the UK’s largest and most effective teachers’ union, and its campaigning and policy work, and will bring to the role journalistic and/or press experience and excellent communication skills.
This role is available for a minimum of 6 months and up to 1 year to cover a period of maternity leave.
