Peaches Geldof and Jesse Metcalfe help Fisher celebrate 25 years: picture gallery

Jesse Metcalfe, star of Desperate Housewives, joined socialite Peaches Geldof and Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps actor Will Mellor to help Fisher Productions celebrate its 25th birthday.

The Dairy, London was the venue for the agency’s rebranding last night. It featured a neon dance space, a classical-themed dessert room and entertainment from Geisha hair stylists.

A ‘celebrity hangout’ area was also created where Geldof, Metcalf and Mellor enjoyed the canapés and cocktails, provided by By Word of Mouth. Design was provided by Terry Brown.

"The event was fantastic, everyone seemed to have a great time," said Fisher marketing manager Jason Down. "The celebs seemed to really enjoy it too and mingled with the guests. Everything was top notch, from the catering to the lighting."

An after-party was held at Movida.

Blazinstar to take over Covent Garden for experiential Eminem album launch

Blazinstar Experiential has hired the North Piazza at Covent Garden after being chosen by Universal Polydor’s media agency, MediaCom UK, to produce a rehab-themed experiential event to mark the release of Eminem’s comeback album, Relapse.

Event can exclusively reveal that on Monday 18 May, a mock-up narcotics recovery centre will be erected at the London landmark. Giant ‘E’ shapes will highlight the event’s location as a footfall of around 100,000 people witness the one-day event.

Participants will be greeted by nurses offering branded ‘blood’ test-tubes filled with cranberry juice, then shown to a hospital bed where they can listen to Relapse, rumoured to be the first of two releases from the controversial rapper this year.

A medical wristband will be presented to participants with details of a Facebook site where they can view photographs from the launch.

"The Eminem Relapse Rehab Centre is designed to bring the Relapse album’s ‘rehab’ message to life," Blazinstar’s Shaz Smilansky told Event.

"This integrated approach leverages the high engagement factor of the live brand experience and is a great strategy for generating word of mouth amongst the target audience."

Blazinstar has previously created experiential campaigns for T-Mobile and ITV.

Cunning experiential brand to continue despite collapse

The agency formerly known as Cunning Stunts has shut shop with estimated debts of £619,425, leaving Cunning Communications to continue its legacy.

The Shoreditch-based company, which has held clients including Levis Strauss and British Airways which and organises events and marketing campaigns, has cut 40% of its staff since last summer, leaving just eight employees, some of whom are on temporary contracts.

A parent company called Cunning Ltd will continue its New York operation and is making plans to expand into Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.

Anna Carloss, managing director and co-founder of Cunning with John Carver, said she could not keep Cunning Stunts afloat, in part because a major contract was lost late last year.

She added: "By March of this year, our bank would not extend our overdraft and we had to close Cunning Stunts. It is with deep regret that this has resulted in creditors not being paid in full. After the bank’s loss, John Carver and I were the largest creditors and we really did what we could to keep Cunning Stunts afloat."

Cunning Stunts came into notoriety in 1999 when it projected and image of Gail Porter onto the Houses of Parliament for Emap’s FHM magazine.

McDonald’s, Fox Sign Global Movie Tie-In Deal

McDonald’s and Twentieth Century Fox have announced a global partnership around the studio’s movies that encompasses Happy Meal toys, commercials and online tie-ins.

The deal, which will extend through 2010, begins with the blockbuster sequel "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian."

Tie-in television commercials will appear in McDonald’s markets throughout the world, timed to coincide with the launch dates for the "Night" Happy Meal toys in each market. In the U.S. and Latin America, the ads will feature exclusive, custom animation and special effects provided by Fox. In Europe, they will incorporate actual clips from the film.

The next round of tie-ins will be around "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs," the third movie in the "Ice Age" franchise.–Karlene Lukovitz.
