Shoreditch to get beach soccer park for World Cup
A temporary beach soccer park will be constructed in Shoreditch Park this June to coincide with the World Cup.
The park will comprise a 4,000-seat stadium filled with a thousand tons of sand, food concessions and a range of other interactive games and exhibitions for visitors to get involved in.
There will also be a 30sqm screen on which fans will be able to watch live footage from the World Cup matches.
The stadium will play host to a number of televised international beach soccer fixtures including an eight team knockout tournament involving some of Europe’s’ finest players.
”Shoreditch Park provides a perfect setting to stage our flagship event of the 2010 season, The Euro Cup, as well as providing a wonderful environment for football fans, not lucky enough to be in South Africa, to share the excitement of the World Cup,” said CEO of England Beach Soccer John Hawkins.
